Gorillaz have made an announcement regarding their upcoming concerts in the United States, scheduled for September 2023. Unfortunately, the virtual group has been forced to cancel their anticipated tour, known as The Getaway 2023 tour. The quartet, consisting of animated characters, made the announcement on Wednesday, citing scheduling conflicts and circumstances beyond their control.

The tour was set to include four dates in Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, and Boston, taking place from September 10th to 19th. Fans who had already purchased tickets received an update from Ticketmaster, notifying them of the cancellation. The ticketing giant assured attendees that refunds would be automatically processed, with no action required on their part. They estimated that the refund process may take up to 30 days.

Kaytranada, Lil Yachty, and Remi Wolf were originally slated to join Gorillaz on the tour as supporting acts. In an email to ticket holders, Ticketmaster explained the situation and expressed their regret for the cancellation. Gorillaz also addressed their fans directly in the email, expressing their disappointment at being unable to perform this year. They conveyed their love for their Gorillaz family and expressed their eagerness to return to the stage as soon as possible.

Prior to this, Gorillaz had performed consecutively at Coachella in April and embarked on a successful 2022 World Tour led by Damon Albarn and a 14-piece live band, featuring various guest performers.
